September 29th 2009 - Godfrey Slams EU Data Spies
UKIP MEP Godfrey Bloom has blasted EU snoopers who are pressing for sinister new powers to spy on every taxpayer in Britain, as reported in the Daily Express.
Brussels wants European Union countries to allow its bureaucrats the right to delve into millions of people’s personal financial details.
“The idea that the Government is prepared to hand over personal data to Brussels is chilling," Mr Bloom said.
"Time and time again the state seems to think the answer to every problem is a new database. Then they lose or give away our data.”

September 25, 2009 - DOG AND DUCK
Euro MP Godfrey Bloom is advocating a simple answer to the current
dilemma facing small businesses over accounting rules.
A European Commission proposal to exempt such firms from the
burdensome rules was the subject of a public meeting yesterday (Sept
24) when Enterprise ministers from across Europe proposed amendments.
The Commission President, José Manuel Barroso, has pledged to make
cutting red tape a priority.
But the Europe Union fears that giving national ministers the power to
exempt so-called "micro-businesses' from the 4th and 7th European
accounting directives would effectively mean falling back on national
company law.
Mr Bloom, UKIP MEP for Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire, who has a
financial business background, believes that there is a simple answer
to the problem.
"The obvious solution to this is to allow small companies, who do not
trade outside the UK, to be subject only to national law," said Mr
Bloom. "Not difficult is it?" he added.
"That way the majority of British employers would be exempt from
legislation and regulation designed to control the major market
players.
"This is the sort of thing that should never have applied to
the pie shop, wasn't designed for the pub, and certainly should not
effect the taxi rank. But under the one size fits all mania, it is all
the same to Brussels", he said.
"Nothing at the Ministerial meeting yesterday suggests that they have
an iota of understanding of the importance of the SME sector. Nor
indeed the pressure that the sector is under. All they think about is
greater rights (read more regulation) and greater integration.
“So please Mr Minister tell us how are you going to integrate for
cross-border purposes the Dog and Duck?"

Euro MP Godfrey Bloom, who regularly hunts in Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire, has joined the EU campaign for sustainable hunting.
"This is something I feel very strongly about as I want to do all I can to support country sports," said Mr Bloom.
"I was delighted to be invited to attend the inaugural meeting in Brussels of the Intergroup on Sustainable Hunting, Biodiversity, Countryside Activities, Agriculture and Forestry.
"I was also thrilled that one of my fellow UK Independence Party MEP's, the Earl of Dartmouth, who's a keen shot, was elected as a vice-president of the Intergroup," he said.
The meeting was organised by the Federation of Associations for Hunting and Conservation of the EU (FACE) and the next session will be held in Strasbourg in November.
The function of FACE is to act as a bridge between the voices of hunters and conservationists and the European institutions.
"While I am obviously totally against the EU I think it is vital that every opportunity is seized to maintain sustainable hunting," said Mr Bloom.

16.09.09 - UKIP slams BFPO cuts, urges action
"What a classic underhand cheap and tawdry response it is to slate part of the BFPO (British Forces Post Office) service for closure" said Godfrey Bloom MEP.
When the servicemen and women our country are fighting and dying for this government's dubious honour, it treats them with the contempt it has shown across the board. The BFPO has for decades provided a lifeline that is utterly vital in maintaining moral and now they want to cut it".
"Today's MPs have granted themselves £7,000 a year postage, but they seem to be happy to put extra costs on service families. How typical, how venal, how vile".
Closing the BFPO service could disenfranchise soldiers and their families if they are postal voters; some credit card providers will not send cards abroad (M&S for example) unless to a BFPO address; some savings options may be closed to them, ISAs require a UK base. Open University students will become foreign resident thus hitting them with higher fees and so on.
"Quite how the MOD, and its political masters can justify this beggars belief" said Bloom, "It is if they deliberately looked around to see the nastiest way they could stab our services in the back".
Mr Bloom continued, "I urge everybody to get behind the No10 website petition to keep the BFPO service alive. It can be found at this url http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/SaveBFPO/"

September 7, 2009 - TILTING AT WINDMILLS
Wind turbines blighting our landscapes were slammed by UKIP Euro MP Godfrey Bloom at the party's national conference.
He told the delegates at the Southport Conference Centre at the weekend that it was "nonsense" to blame a rise in Co2 for global warming.
Mr Bloom, MEP for Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire, told the packed audience that wind turbines "as big as Big Ben" were causing distress to people all over the country.
"I find that very difficult to cope with because we know they don't work. I think it would be marvelous if we could harness the wind - but we can't.
"Germany has 19,000 wind turbines but not one conventional power station has consequently been de-commissioned," he said.
Mr Bloom challenged claims that the science on the issue has been settled and said that 800 international scientists and their institutions do not agree it is settled. He also pointed out that Inter-governmental Climate Change Panel is a political organisation and not an independent scientific body.
Instead of global warming in fact the world's temperatures are falling while Co2 keeps rising, he added.
Mr Bloom told the enthusiastic audience that he is currently working on the subject with fellow UKIP MEP Derek Clark, who is a science teacher.
Far from the issue being settled "the debate is only just beginning," he said.

September 1st 2009 - JOINING HANDS
Euro MP Godfrey Bloom has thrown his support behind a unique campaign aimed at encouraging everyone back to a more natural way of life.
The Joining Hands in Health campaign wants to raise awareness that the European Commission has been preparing more than 300 Directives & Regulations 'which threaten to destroy our health, natural foods, vitamins and herbal supplements.'
They will also jeopardise 'ancient traditions and practices, healthcare businesses, animal welfare, the environment and take away consumer rights and choice'.
Mr Bloom, UK Independence Party MEP for Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire, has already made a donation to this independent, non profit voluntary health awareness campaign, which is the first of its kind to embrace all cultures, animals and the environment.
"I feel very strongly about these issues and I agree with the campaign's current goal in exposing the life threatening policies planned by the European Commission and ensuring that our government establishes a new legal framework for ‘natural/herbal foods, vitamins & herbal supplements’."
"It wants to restore consumer choice and protect the ancient principle that natural foods are meant to feed and heal. I live in the countryside myself and perhaps this helps me feel in tune with this campaign," said Mr Bloom.
"These EC proposals start coming into force next January so this is an urgent matter and I want to use my role as an MEP to highlight the Joining Hands in Health campaign in every way I can.
"I would encourage everyone to get involved and they can start by looking at their website www.joininghandsinhealth.com," he added.
