UKIP take hard headed approach to the Strasbourg Circus

Every year, EUR 200 million is spent carting MEPs and their staff from Brussels to Strasbourg for 40 days a year. And yet there is no need for this traveling circus, because as is being
proved this week, everything can be done in the Parliament building in Brussels, saving tax payers money.

At the beginning of August, the roof of the Strasbourg parliament fell in, with the largest piece of masonry landing on the desk of chief eurocritic Nigel Farage MEP.

In a protest today, the UK Independence Party MEPs, with the support of their colleagues in the Ind/Dem Group all appeared at the voting session in Brussels wearing hard hats to highlight the continued existence of the wasteful Strasbourg Parliament building.
Yorkshire and the Humber MEP Godfrey Bloom said it was "high time" the wasteful charade was ended.
"The roof has already fallen in on the Strasbourg building; we have no need of going there at all, as this week proves.

"Brussels is ample for the needs of the Parliament." he said."But I always thought the institutions would collapse in on themselves before the actual buildings" "And it's timely that it happened during the French presidency who have always vetoed the halt to the traveling circus."
